Party booze-up man banned

During his appearance in the dock, McPherson admitted driving with 57 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the legal limit of 35, on 13 April this year.

The case had originally been continued for information from the DVLA on McPherson�s driving record.

Defence solicitor Ellen MacDonald said her client had been drinking at a bash on Saturday night and had thought he would be fine to drive the next morning.

She told the court: �He is a single man with a full-time job as an engineer, earning in the region of around �1,000 a month.

�He had been at a friend�s house-warming party the previous evening, where he had been drinking heavily and probably didn�t realise just how much alcohol he had consumed.

�He realises the serious nature of this type of offence and could lose his employment as a result of the proceedings that have been brought against him.
