Family, friends, school mourn the loss of 17-year-old 'Angel'

A report from the Washington State Patrol said Ward's blood-alcohol concentration was 0.03 percent at the time of the crash. The legal limit for drinking-age adults is 0.08 percent. Ward's slight level of impairment, along with fatigue and inexperience with driving at night all played roles in the crash, according to the WSP report.

• In October 2006, Adrianne Wallace, a 16-year-old Tumwater High School junior, died in a crash on Black Lake Boulevard. The driver, Zechariah Matthew McRea, pleaded guilty in June 2007, to vehicular homicide in connection with the crash and was sentenced to 36 months in prison.
