The Del Mar City Council last night unanimously approved an emergency ordinance banning alcohol at city parks and beaches from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The council adopted the ban after Public Services Director Pat Vergne said he has seen an alarming increase in out-of-control alcohol consumption along the city's beaches over the past two weekends.
Vergne said he believes young adults are flocking to Del Mar to abuse alcohol because it is one of the few beaches in the county where drinking is still permitted.
The Del Mar alcohol ban will become effective at midnight Thursday. Violators could be fined $100 for the first offense.

activity among the tourists after drinking.so many people affected with that.
