Police Crackdown On Underage Drinking; Five Bartenders Arrested

According to Bill Crowley, a spokesman for the SLA, a bar or restaurant implicated in the sale of alcohol to a minor, considered a serious violation of Alcohol and Beverage Control law, faces up to a $10,000 fine, with the severity of the incident and the history of the establishment taken into account during the review.

According to a bartender who works at one of the bars visited by the Village police who wished to remain anonymous, the underage decoys used by the police were two young women, who, according to the source, were wired for sound. Lamison declined to comment on the specifics of the operation, saying, �We have underage persons who work with the police department to help curtail the selling of illicit alcohol to underage patrons.� Four police officers were involved in Saturday�s investigation.
